Artisan

This was a live brief working with The People Tree who are an ethical fashion brand looking to rejuvenate elements of their designs in order to move away from a reputation of ‘eco-friendly’ and to start to be considered as a pioneering fashion brand. They have set out to seen their “21st century eco artisan”, of which I have been nominated as one of the finalists.

After seeing the work of Tom Friedman and Sue Collis, I was inspired by what involved a painstaking process, of which i chose wig-making. Here I focused on elements of judges wigs combined with ethically sourced yarns such as organic cotton, bamboo and even soya bean fibre in order to create both hand and machine knitted textiles, and to inform my silhouette.

I tried to keep my designs from being too ostentatious, based on the clients customer profile and who their designs would be worn by.
