If I wasn’t a knitter, I would be an archaelogist..

Yeps I would! Here is some work from one of my latest projects based around my love for archaeology and finding things in the garden when i was really little.

You can have a look here!

Today I have returned back to warrington for my grandma’s 85th Birthday party! I am hoping for a northern ‘do’ and a good catch up with cousins, aunties and uncles that I havent seen since I was knee-high. My dad has 5 sisters and one brother so if you count up all their children, their children’s children etc its going to be one busy evening! It is a shame this is only a flying visit and I have to go back to London again tomorrow morning as there’s lots of uni work to be done (as always).

I did some reading for my dissertation on the train - I am looking at how the boundaries of using knit as a creative ‘tool’ are being pushed to their limits, particularly in relation to Art and Fashion. It is looking at initially a history behind hand knitting in britain, and goes on to discuss who has done ground-breaking things to change our perceptions of knit and who is taking knitwear (and knit itself) forward and moving it into a contemporary context and how. I wonder where it will go from here?

Moving house has been going well so far.. its just taking f-o-r-e-v-e-r to unpack! Joe and I have managed to get our sea of boxes down to a pile in the hallway and the study room, once we are sorted we can have a housewarming and I’ll share some pictures of the place. I am quite enjoying finding my ornaments and giving them all new homes of their own, i was particularly excited to see this little fellow again:

There is a shop on Shaftesbury Avenue that sells chinese touristy nick-nacks and tat, and every time I’d walk past for about 4 months he would be sat on their shelf waiting to be bought, and one day I thought how sad it would be if somebody else bought him, so I made sure I did first! Funny how something so daft for £4 can bring so much happiness really isnt it?
